Lace up your skates and head out to one of Rochester’s ice rinks for some ice skating. Many rinks offer demonstrations and clinics for skaters of all abilities. 3. Break out your tube or sled (even that old plastic red one you’ve got) and go to Ellison Park. Last one down the hill is a rotten egg! 4. Hit the slopes with your skis or snowboard at Bristol Mountain or any of the other local resorts. 5. Just because it’s a little brisk doesn’t mean the Seneca Park Zoo isn’t open! Visit the zoo to see the animals, including winter-weather folks like the penguins and polar bears. 6. The ice is hot during the Rochester Amerks hockey games. Cheer them on as they strive to capture the American Hockey League Calder Cup. 7. If the weather outside is frightful, spend some time indoors. The Windmill Farm & Craft Market
The Windmill is the first and friendliest farm and craft market in upstate New York, located right in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Region. The Annual New York State Balloon Festival
Between the Dogwood Festival in the spring and Winter in the Village, Dansville hosts nine other festivals, the largest of which occurs during the Labor Day weekend where community residents and visitors are treated to over 50 hot air balloons filling the skies as we celebrate playing host to the New York State Festival of Balloons.
The Castle on the Hill
Dansville has an unusually rich history. Dansville gained national prominence when a water cure enterprise was established in 1858 and run for 60 years by the Jackson family of physicians. The water cure enterprise rivaled the health resorts of Europe and attracted such luminaries as Frederick Douglas, Susan B. Anthony, and Horace Greeley. It was this facility that attracted Miss Clara Barton to Dansville to regain her health while establishing the American Red Cross.

Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack
Since 1962, Finger Lakes has been the premier venue for live thoroughbred racing in Western New York. In 2004, the excitement of over 1,000 video gaming machines was added to Finger Lakes as well as new dining options and entertainment venues. The facility once again expanded in 2006 with the addition of a 280-seat buffet restaurant and space for additional video gaming machines, totaling nearly 1,200 video gaming machines for your enjoyment.
